CD Cover Editing
Brief: This post goes through the process I used to create the CD cover using software called PhotoFiltre. To begin construction on the front cover, a cream-to-white gradient was made in powerpoint and then imported into PhotoFiltre.
This gradient was put at both the top and bottom of the new image document to give the image a very slight hint of cream to avoid it being completely white. On a seperate layer, a black line was made and put in the centre of the document for use later.
Three layours of lines were then made, each decreasing in size and opacity, in order to give the image a feeling of depth (as well as to incorporate the refraction theme we had in mind)
Images of the band members were then put into the software. The backgrounds were removed of these images and brightness, contrast and saturation levels were altered slightly. After this was done, they were input into the main document
After these pictures were reposition correctly, the band name and album name were created using the previously decided upon font 'Century Gothic' (we decided this because it was inline with our research of font types other artists of our genre have used). The final version of the front cover is shown below:
This theme of using multiple layers of lines was also used for the coloured covers of the artists.
The tracks cover was made similarly to the front cover. The same cream-to-white gradient was used and similar black lines. A white box was made and then reshaped to fit the inside of the black lines inwhich the tracks would be put into. The same font for the artists name and album name was used on the back, however in a different layout.
The track names used the same font again however they were not in captials. The reason for the use of lower case here was because it made the artists seem more innocent and approachable. It is also a convention of our genre to have a very minimalistic design which is why the track timing and number were not included.
Finally, a picture of the school GoPro was taken and cropped so that only the lens was visible
